Cook Family

Small world, this Hawaiian island.  We set up a shoot with the Cook family and when we got to Magic Island, we realized that they looked really familiar.  Their family had actually visited our church a few weeks earlier!  Their two girls were adorably sweet and friendly, so it made for a really fun shoot at the park.  I don't usually go with the sepia type of look for photos, but I loved the way it looked with some of these images.  So classic!  

Ian's 1st Birthday

More babies!  Well, growing babies.  It's always a weird feeling when our childhood friends have kids. It's a sign that we are getting older and more mature... well, older, at least.  Since Elise & Nancy go wayyyyy back, she asked us to shoot her son's 1st Birthday.  It was really cute how they combined the western & Korean style birthday traditions with the candle on the rainbow dduk (rice cake).  You may have read in some of our other blog posts about many of the dol (Korean 1st birthday) traditions.  Elise used one that I don't remember seeing before - the giving of a gold ring.  Traditionally it weighs 1 don which is about the equivalent of 3.75 grams (thank you, internet).  Happy birthday, Ian!!

Ashton's 100th Day

Ashton celebrated his 100th day with us at the beach. 100th day is a special birthday celebration for Korean babies celebrating their passage out of infancy and into a long and happy childhood.

This is one of our favorite shots. They were laying with their heads together for less than two seconds before Ashton went straight for the hair and earrings! But their family is so cute, it just looks like the poster for a Korean comedy. Ashton looks so satisfied.
